The purpose of this project, as demonstrated through its title, is twofold: the approach of the concept of water from the aspect of the chemistry and the pedagogical. The complexity of this subject as well as its implications on environmental, economic, sustainable and social development issues requires an interdisciplinary approach, while using all modern teaching and pedagogical methods. The aim is to highlight the particular teaching subject, while covering and connecting all subject fields and their implications.

From the chemical aspect analyzes were performed in samples of drinking water in 44 areas of Kavala. Three areas with different morphological characteristics (lowland, semi-mountainous and coastal) and fifty sample sites in Kavala region were selected for the collection of water samples. The water sources for human consumption are either from springs or from wells. Eleven quality parameters of the drinking water were monitored within a period of three years (2009-2012). The physical parameters are: electric conductivity, pH, total hardness and alkalinity. The chemical parameters are: chloride, nitrate, nitrite, potassium, sodium, ammonium and calcium. The selection of monitoring parameters was mainly based on the requirements of the European directives 98/83 and 2000/60. The analytical methods involved were standard procedures as recommended by the European directive. Water quality is affected by a wide range of natural and human influences. Based on the results of these analyzes can confidently certify if a sample is suitable for drinking or not, according to the requirements of situated law.

This research project aims at presenting a multimedia application, referred to "Water". This educational software has been designed and implemented, taking into consideration the learning mechanisms, the existing successful pedagogical models and the difficulties faced by students on understanding the respective concepts taught. The electronic platform will include all the necessary information for analysis and the importance of these parameters. Also will include educational video in which there is a complete description of the procedure for each parameter. In the last part of the software there are questions on the basis of which the control of learning outcome can be carried out.

Thus, it is concluded that the use of advanced and modern computer technology and the parallel respect to the basic principles of pedagogical science can significantly enhance students’ interest in the chemistry course, facilitating the understanding of phenomena and processes aiming at improving the learning outcome.
